Central Hills Cruise to the Custer State Park Game Lodge You’ll meander west on Neck Yoke Road past horse ranches and beautiful log homes, then head south on Rockerville Road through remnants of ghost towns and ghost mines. Then, west on Highway 40 into the historic mining town of Keystone. From here we head south on Highway 16A for just a few miles climbing up to the beginning of Iron Mountain Road. Iron Mountain Road is home to the famous “pigtail” bridges that wind up and down through some of the most beautiful scenery in America.
We’ll drop into Custer State Park heading west on 16A until we reach Calvin Coolidge’s favorite summer hangout, the Game Lodge. If you don’t like curves, this is not your cruise. On the other hand if you have the gumption, it’s a drive that even Alzheimer’s patients remember.
